I'm having the following problem.

I'm running Q&E FTP Server 3.2 All runs well behind my software firewall (Zone Alarm) and I can serve and receive single files with no issues. I am running my server to share music files with friends.

I have my files arranged under a directory structure on my hard drive as follows.
E:\My Tunes\Ripped CD's\Artist\Album\Individule_Song_Names-11.mp3 as an example.

Or E:\My Tunes\Ripped CD's\Braveheart (Motion Picture Soundtrack)\Braveheart (Motion Picture Soundtrack)\London Symphony Orchestra James Horner-Freedom, The Execution, Bannockburn-17.mp3 as an extremely long path real world example.

I'm instructing friends to use FTP Wanderer 2.7 as thier download tool of choice.

Here is what I'm running into...

#1 As I understand how things are suppose to work, downloaders should be able to download an entire directory folder (aka album/CD) which would give them all the files in that directory. When attempting this the 1st file downloads fine...and sometimes the 2nd and 3rd, but then the process just stops.

#2 Also, sometimes under the situation in #1 and also when downloading files, the recipiant recieves a correctly labeled file, but the file has 0 byte size.

I have no idea where to begin trouble shooting this issue. FTP Server? FTP Wanderer? Too long a file path? Router/network set up issues? Please advise.

Thanks to all!

Blake

I suspect that FTP Wanderer is causing this problem.
Did you try another FTP client?

I have not. Just thought it best to keep all my FTP needs in one basket. What FTP Client would you reccomend?

Smart FTP is a good alternative to FTP Wanderer.

Ok I had a freind install FileZilla FTP and all works well. So I guess no QnE FTP Server, setup, or router issues. So what is it about FTP Wanderer that chokes on multiple files/directory downloads? I really DO prefer the simplier, cleaner look and feel of Wanderer. Is there a way to patch/configure/update Wanderer to get around the problems I've been having?

FTP Wanderer uses the FTP engine of Windows (WININET).
I've never experienced any problems myself (I use FTP Wanderer daily), but maybe it has something to do with your Windows version.
If you know a way how I can reporduce the behaviour, then I will try to workaround the problem.

Well if you send me an e-mail at my account regisration address, I can set you up with client privliges to my server. I think I can give you info so that you can reproduce the errors I'm seeing. I can also forward you back and QnE FTP Server logs and set-up info unique to my system.
