Great software. I have tried many and it's the best and easiest to configure. I will purchase the Service build today and wish to install it on a machine that is already running the free server. I don't want to lose the settings or directory stucture that is there now. Can this be done? I would like some input before I go through the install. Thanks, jeff _________________ Remember!! 1. Before you uninstall the DEMO version make sure you backup your
users.xml and security.xml files. They can be found in the folder you've installed QnE FTP: C:\Program Files\Quick 'n Easy FTP Service\.
2. Uninstalll the DEMO.
3. Install the FULL version.
4. Copy the file users.xml and security.xml back to the
C:\Program Files\Quick 'n Easy FTP Service\ folder.
5. Start the FTP service using the Control Panel applet.
Note: Make sure you've closed the control panel before you uninstall the demo or else the applet will not be removed. |

I didn't install the demo server version. I installed the free version 2.7.1. There is no /programs/Quick n Easy directory. I found the users.xml file only in \documents\username\locals\temp\~~pdtemp folder. I have the users home directory in a folder called \server. I hope I can save the setup and not lose access to this folder. _________________ Remember!! Logic does't always work. Get over it and move on. |

Yes, you can use this users.xml too.
So forget about the uninstall part, and just install the service version.
And copy your existing users.xml to the C:\Program Files\Quick 'n Easy FTP Service\ folder after you've completed the setup. |

Admin,
I like that name. Well it worked just fine. I did load the users.xml file and all was well. I did have to set the passwords for the users over again. Then all is up and running smooth. I have set up Microsoft 2003 servers to run FTP as well as other Microsoft OS's and a few Linux servers, but this is the easiest one period! Great software. Thanks for your fast reply.
